Formal Retrospective

As my honors experience has swiftly come to an end, I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to display my knowledge through my experiences. Reflecting back on my time in the Honors College, I have grown exponentially as a student, as a professional, and as a person. As represented in my chosen artifacts, I have become a more well rounded professional through hands-on experience, through impressive performance in challenging academic courses, and through pushing myself out of my comfort zone. Before honors, I was struggling to find my place and struggling to find my voice. After honors, that storyline has drastically changed. Through these experiences, I have gained more confidence, learned to successfully collaborate in teams, and acquired the skill of effective communication.

Each of my chosen artifacts represents a different capability I have gained as a result of being an honors student. Being a recipient of the IUPUI Cox Scholarship is a badge of honor I wear with pride. This scholarship represents my ability to achieve academic excellence while maintaining a balance between work and school. My body positivity campaign, ‘EVERY.BODY IS WORTHY’ allowed me to tap into my creative side and truly build a campaign from the ground up. This artifact displayed my skills in page design, marketing concepts, and communication across platforms.

My I-Core project for Vedere Press was one of the most challenging experiences I have taken part in as a student. This project challenged me to work hard every single day. It opened my eyes to working successfully within a team. It also helped me to uncover my skills in communication within a team setting, especially when it comes to motivating others. I-Core allowed me to showcase my business skills in solving real and timely business challenges. Through this experience, I was also able to see product development from the original brainstorming to the real world product implications. Another artifact I would like to mention is my summit of Mount Elbert. Although many of my honors experiences occurred within the classroom, summiting Mount Elbert was the most rewarding adventure I have ever been a part of. Through this experience, I learned to push myself beyond my limits and outside my comfort zone. As stated in my senior showcase, I am capable of so much more than I give myself credit for.

Overall, all of these experiences have led to me becoming a well developed individual who is ready and furthermore, excited to get out into the world. Because of honors, I feel prepared to make my own strides as a professional and am thrilled to display the skills I have learned. I feel that honors has set me up for success after graduation. This opportunity to reflect on how far I have come as an individual is truly enlightening and makes me proud. I am proud of how I have progressed and all the knowledge I have through Kelley honors. It is truly a privilege– one that I cannot wait to share with you.
